URBAN ADVENTURES

Whether you’re here to watch a special event or spin your own adventure — discover for yourself why Edmonton is called the City of Champions!

Suggested Months: April to October

DAY 1 — WHEELS
Drive 40 minutes south of Edmonton to the Reynolds-Alberta Museum. Celebrate the “Spirit of the Machine” through its exceptional collection of rare and unusual cars, airplanes, tractors and industrial giants. Enjoy interactive fun and AV presentations. Near Edmonton International Airport, the Castrol Raceway hosts more than 50 motorsport events each race season, including championship sprint car racing, IHRA drag strip and motocross.

Bet on a swift winner at Edmonton’s Northlands, open year-round, seven days a week, with live thoroughbred and harness racing all year and the Chuckwagon Derby every summer. If you’re lucky enough to be in Edmonton in November, the Canadian Finals Rodeo rounds up the country’s top cowboys at Rexall Place to compete for their share of a million-dollar purse.

DAY 2 — REELS
Edmonton enjoys the longest stretch of urban parkland in North America, encompassing 48 km along the North Saskatchewan River. This area offers great opportunities for golfing, canoeing, jet-boating, gold panning, hiking, cycling, skating, cross country skiing and fishing. Several local professional guides offer all-inclusive guided fishing trips in Edmonton and area, or take a full-day fishing package to a nearby lake — summer or winter.

DAY 3 — DEALS
Take a swing into the tremendous value of our premium golf courses. There are 86 within a one-hour drive of the city, including Northern Bear (the third Jack Nicklaus signature golf course in Canada); RedTail Landing (an 18-hole signature course at Edmonton International Airport); and the river valley’s Jägare Ridge and Blackhawk Golf Club (recognized as the top new course in Western Canada by Golf Digest in 2003).
